The city of Dresden will contribute around 7.9 million euros for the revitalization of the television tower and the surrounding area. This was decided by the city council at its meeting on Thursday. The TV tower, which was a popular excursion destination with a café and viewing platforms during the GDR era, has been closed to visitors for 35 years.
The city's money is a prerequisite for a total of 25.6 million euros to be invested in the renovation of the tower, among other things, the city announced on request. Half of the money is to come from federal funding, the rest from the Free State of Bavaria and the city budget, according to the corresponding draft resolution.
