A minor and her family who were wrongly deported to Albania from Central Saxony can return to Germany. Although the legal examination of the case is not yet completed, informed Interior Minister Armin Schuster (CDU) on Friday. However, the deportation in mid-September took place although there was a reason for toleration. Therefore, the ministry had instructed to bring the family back to Saxony. "We regret this mistake, and hope that the family quickly settles back here and the recent events are soon processed," Schuster said.

The Refugee Council had previously sharply criticized the deportation. According to him, the 16-year-old is suffering from cystic fibrosis and is dependent on constant medical care. Nevertheless, she and her family were deported to Albania. There she had been deprived of her medication, so that her state of health had deteriorated. The Refugee Council spoke of a "gross ethical disregard for the health situation of a seriously ill minor."

According to the information, the family has been living in Mittweida since 2019. The girl had also gone to school there.
