Saxony's SPD top candidate and Interior Minister Petra Köpping has called for better communication from Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD). "He must speak out more", the politician told the newspaper "Welt" (Wednesday). Although Scholz is "now very well recognized" in terms of foreign policy, the traffic light coalition in the federal government must "explain and show people what has been done". Köpping criticized that this was being lost in the disputes between the SPD, FDP and Greens.
A coalition is not a marriage of love, Köpping continued. "This is a temporary partnership where three partners have to find compromises. They are not that bad." However, it is a shame if this is not communicated well.
In general, people are not bothered by political disputes, said the SPD politician. "They need to know that parties have different programs and that a three-party coalition is not that easy. But they need a solution."
