Saxony's Juso chairwoman Mareike Engel agrees with the criticism of the coalition agreement between the CDU/CSU and SPD in the federal government. The agreement does not answer the current central problems of society, Engel told the German Press Agency.
She particularly criticized the agreements in the areas of work and social affairs. For example, she said that social democrats could not advocate a move away from the 8-hour working day. In the area of asylum and migration, Engel also sees right-wing narratives being perpetuated "to a certain extent" - as was already the case during the election campaign.
She is not a fan of an alliance between the SPD and the CDU/CSU, said Engel, who is also the deputy federal chair of the SPD's youth organization. "But I am also aware of the implications of this election result." They want to propose renegotiations on the controversial points to the party.
