Kretschmer Travels to Prague – Focus on the Economy

Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) will travel to the Czech capital, Prague, next week. There, he will attend a reception hosted by the German Embassy to mark German Unity Day and meet, among others, Czech Minister of Trade Karel Havlicek, according to a statement from the State Chancellery. According to the announcement, the focus of the trip on October 1 and 2 will be on deepening Saxon-Czech cooperation, particularly in the economic sphere.

Kretschmer: We Must Join Forces

“Saxony and the Czech Republic are close neighbors and good partners,” Kretschmer said, according to the statement. “Especially in economically challenging times, we must join forces—in research and innovation, in energy and infrastructure, and wherever we are stronger together than alone.”

Planned events include a business roundtable at the German-Czech Chamber of Industry and Commerce, a discussion with representatives of the German-Czech Future Fund, and a meeting with Richard Brabec, the mayor of the neighboring region of Ústí nad Labem.

Saxony Is the Guest of Honor at the German Unity Day Celebration

Saxony is this year’s guest of honor at the reception hosted by the German Embassy in Prague. At the celebrations, which will feature international guests, the Free State of Saxony will be represented by the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory, the watchmaker Glashütte Original, the City of Culture Chemnitz, artisans and toy manufacturers from the Ore Mountains, and the Ore Mountains mining region. The “So geht sächsisch” regional campaign and the city of Plauen, as host of Saxony Day 2027, are also participating.
