The Saxon SPD would like to develop a vision for the Free State at its "Saxony 2040" debate camp in Leipzig on Saturday and engage in controversial discussions. Federal SPD chair Bärbel Bas is also expected to attend the meeting. She is to describe the path to a new SPD basic program, said Saxon party leader Kathrin Michel. So far, 320 people have registered for the event, but there is still room for improvement.
"We know that we need to clarify things," emphasized co-chair Henning Homann with regard to his party. The debate camp will cover various topics in different formats. One topic, for example, is "Nobody understands them! - How can the SPD learn the language of the majority again?". The economic crisis, the role of the East after 35 years of German reunification and justice in society will also be debated. One point will be reserved for school policy - the motto of the debate: "Get out of deficit management! - Does Saxony's school of the future need a revolution?"
