Tourism is a major economic and regional factor for Saxony. With revenue of 9.8 billion euros last year, value added of approximately 4.6 billion, and substantial tax revenues, tourism contributes to the state’s economic development and appeal, according to the latest Tourism Barometer from the East German Savings Banks Association (OSV). According to the report, the figures rose slightly compared to 2023. Given the challenging geopolitical and economic conditions, this should be viewed as a positive sign, the Ministry of Tourism stated. Tourism Minister Barbara Klepsch (CDU) emphasized that the latest data on tourism as an economic factor underscores the industry’s great importance to Saxony. The industry is also recording growth in the current year. In the first half of the year, tourism businesses in Saxony welcomed approximately 3.72 million guests—an increase of 2.6 percent compared to the first half of the previous year. Overnight stays rose by 0.6 percent to 8.97 million. Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de). All rights reserved
