Altenberg-Zinnwald Youth Hostel Closes After 70 Years

After more than 70 years, the Altenberg-Zinnwald Youth Hostel will close its doors in mid-October. This marks the end of a chapter in the history of youth hostels in the Ore Mountains, according to the Saxony Youth Hostel Association. The reasons cited are a high need for investment and declining guest numbers.

So far this year, the youth hostel has recorded just under 3,600 overnight stays. Against this backdrop, continuing to operate the youth hostel in its current form is no longer economically viable, according to the statement.
