Regional specialties and traditional crafts: the Striezelmarkt in Dresden needs new stalls - and a striking tree.

Traders and a conifer are being sought for the 592nd edition of the Dresden Striezelmarkt. Traders can apply for one of the 216 stands until May 7, 2026, the state capital announced. They are looking for traditional arts and crafts as well as regional and international specialties.

This year, the Striezelmarkt will take place on the Altmarkt from 25 November to 24 December. For the Striezel fir tree in the middle of the market, a striking conifer with a height of at least 23 meters from Dresden or the surrounding area of around 50 kilometers is being sought.

"The prerequisite is suitable access for crane and heavy-duty transport," it said. "Felling, transportation and installation on Dresden's Altmarkt will be free of charge." Owners of suitable trees could send their proposal to the city with details of the location and type of tree as well as at least one photo.
