The little koala at Leipzig Zoo is called Inala. Animal keepers unveiled the name for the eight-month-old cub at the zoo on Friday. The name was one of more than 3,000 suggestions received from visitors following a call for names. According to the zoo, Inala means peace.
The koala keepers selected three favorites from the numerous suggestions. Zoo friends were able to cast their final vote online. Inala came out on top ahead of Ruby and Mani.
The little koala was born at the end of May 2025. It is a female. According to the zoo, the animal now weighs around 1,100 grams. It is developing very well. Although it still often clings to its mother Erlinga, it is already climbing on its own and nibbling on eucalyptus buds. Inala is the second koala offspring at Leipzig Zoo since 2020.
