The Leipzig Youth Parliament is facing another exciting election period. The sixth election of the Youth Parliament will take place from April 7 to April 14, 2025. The election committee has approved 23 out of 24 applications submitted by young people aged 14 to 21. These candidates - 13 boys and 10 girls - are competing for the 20 available seats.
For all interested parties, the list of candidates can be viewed on the website www.jugendparlament.leipzig.de/kandidierende. It will be particularly exciting on 4 April when the Department for Democracy and Social Cohesion organizes an information event in the Festsaal of the New Town Hall from 3:30 to around 5:30 pm. Here, 14 to 21-year-olds can meet the prospective youth parliamentarians, find out more about them and ask questions directly. Registration for participation in this event is required by March 27, 2025 by e-mail to jupa-wahl@leipzig.de.
All young Leipzig residents between the ages of 14 and 21 whose main place of residence is registered in Leipzig are eligible to vote. In order to make the election as accessible as possible, it will be held online. For young people without an internet connection, an online polling station is available at Friedrich-Ebert-Str. 19a. You can vote there during the week at set times.
