MDR is celebrating the 50th anniversary of "Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella" and is taking a look behind the scenes of the classic fairytale for the first time in a documentary. On December 17 at 3.50 pm, the film will first be shown on MDR television, the broadcaster announced on Tuesday.

The documentary "Three Hazelnuts and a Myth - 50 Years of Cinderella" will then be shown at 5.15 pm. Viewers will be given an insight into the stud farm and Moritzburg Castle, where parts of the film were shot. In addition, many questions about the German-Czech Christmas classic would be answered.

On December 21, MDR will also broadcast an open-air Advent concert from Dresden. This evening will be hosted by Pavel Trávničék, who played the prince in "Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella".
