Passionate railroad enthusiasts can inspect historic vehicles and talk to others. Especially next weekend, because there is a special program.

Historical vehicles of the Deutsche Reichsbahn and model railroads: The Deutsche Bahn Museum in Halle will reopen its doors to railroad enthusiasts and other interested parties from the coming weekend. Regular museum operations on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. will resume on April 18, Deutsche Bahn announced. Special offers are planned for the opening weekend.

For example, the driver's cab of the Mireo electric multiple unit train will be open, it said. The trains are to be used in the region's S-Bahn network from mid-December. A model train layout will also be on display. To mark the start of the museum's season, associations such as the Halle Water Rescue Service will also be visiting at the weekend to present themselves and their work.

Halle is one of the three locations of the DB Museum of the Deutsche Bahn Foundation. The other two locations are in Nuremberg (Bavaria) and Koblenz (Rhineland-Palatinate). Track 24 at Leipzig Central Station is also home to part of the DB Museum's exhibition. The track is accessible at all times and regardless of the season. The vehicles on display were reportedly used for decades in passenger and freight transportation. Today, they are maintained and kept in running order by volunteers.
