Expenditure by statutory health insurance funds in Saxony has risen significantly. Expenditure on services for the approximately 3.8 million people insured in Saxony amounted to 14.8 billion euros in 2023, 5.7 percent higher than in the previous year, according to the State Statistical Office. Around a fifth of this amount was spent on medicines. The number of people insured in Saxony increased only slightly by 0.6 percent in the same period.
