Nurses in Saxony are now paid better. However, their pay is below the national average. Compared to the previous year, average hourly wages rose from 21.55 euros to 23.32 euros, an increase of 8.2 percent. This is according to data from the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds (GKV).
Care workers in Hamburg (24.55 euros) and North Rhine-Westphalia (24.21 euros) are the best paid in Germany. The national average is 23.70 euros (up 4.9 percent). Nurses in Brandenburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Thuringia receive less money than their colleagues in Saxony.
