The focus of funding from EU funds is on digitalization. However, innovative pilot projects are also being funded. The aim is not only to improve care, but also to make it cheaper.

The Free State of Saxony is providing funding of 20 million euros until 2027 for innovative approaches and digitalization in care. The money comes from the European Regional Development Fund, the Ministry of Health announced. In addition, 1.7 million euros have been earmarked for this from the current state budget.

The focus of the funding is on the digitalization of care through things such as digital health applications, age-appropriate assistance systems for a self-determined life in old age and digital networking of facilities in the health and care industry. However, social innovations and innovative pilot projects can also be supported with the money.

The aim is cooperation between companies and research

The health and care industry in Saxony should not only provide comprehensive care, but also become safer, better, cheaper and therefore more competitive, the statement continues. "In this way, we can continue to make a contribution to good medical care for our population in the future," said Saxony's Health Minister Petra Köpping (SPD).

The aim is also to promote cooperation between companies and with universities and research institutions. Applications can be submitted from now until September 30 of this year.
