The magic of flowers during the day and light art at night: the season starts at the Nochten boulder park.

The Lusatian boulder park Nochten in Boxberg in eastern Saxony kicked off its season on Saturday. Until March 29, light art installations by Cottbus artist Jörg Hanitzsch can be seen under the title "Spring Lights", including "Glowing Penguins on a Slope Descent" and "an XXL spider web with a diameter of around 50 meters", according to the Lusatian Boulder Park Association. The park will therefore remain open until 10 p.m. in the evening.

During the day, there will also be "an open-air gallery around 200 meters long with the themes of pop art and the "Path of Hope"". On Easter Monday, the Findlingspark will kick off this year's program of events with a family festival. New this year is the German-Polish summer festival "Garden Magic" on June 14.

The rock garden, which claims to be unique in Europe, was created with around 7,000 boulders not far from the Nochten open-cast mine. The park was opened in 2003. A three-kilometre circular path within sight of the Boxberg power plant connects seven themed gardens, including the rock garden, heather moor and pond garden.
