A festival with passion and risk
Since the first Schlössernacht in 2009, the event has become an integral part of the Dresden Summer of Culture. The event was canceled for two years due to the coronavirus, but now the 15th edition is about to take place. What many visitors don't know: The Schlössernacht is organized entirely by the private sector without public funding. "We are very happy that there are companies in the region that want to keep the Schlössernacht going together with us," emphasizes organizer Mirco Meinel from First Class Concept. Every year, it's all about breaking even, as open-air events are extremely dependent on the weather. But the enthusiasm of the visitors is always touching: "People queued up and danced happily even in the rain. That was pure goosebumps for me."
Diverse music program on 18 stages
Around 300 artists will perform in the parks of Albrechtsberg Palace, Eckberg Palace, Lingnerschloss and the Saloppe. A total of more than 80 concerts await guests: from rock to swing, indie pop to house music, there is something for every taste. The Bon Jovi cover band "New Jersey" will be playing on the large rock stage at the Schweizer Haus, while Mazze Wiesner and Kiki de Ville will be performing on the MOMENTS stage. Indie fans can look forward to "Deep Moon", and Julian Dawson will provide singer-songwriter flair. The band "Manina" will also delight guests with their first own song.
Urban Culture Area in the Saloppe: Hip Hop inspires Dresden
After last year's successful experiment, the Saloppe will become a complete Urban Culture Area for the first time. Together with the "Saxonz", the House of Urban Culture offers a full hip-hop program: breakdancing, graffiti, rap and DJs dominate the scene. "Hip hop now has a 50-year history and is also very popular in Dresden," says artistic director Sylvia Grodd.
Enjoyment islands and fundraising campaign for the Roman baths
In addition to the musical offerings, around 60 enjoyment islands from more than 30 restaurateurs will be on offer. Whether it's tacos, Kim Cheese sausage, truffled US beef or delicious cakes from Café Toscana - there's something for everyone. Partners such as festcatering.de, Meissner Schwerter Privatbrauerei and Weingut Schloss Proschwitz provide high-quality offerings. At the same time, the Roman Baths will be staged once again. Music, stories and a construction fence exhibition will draw attention to the urgent need to preserve the historic building. "This is our way of supporting the city of Dresden's renovation plans," explains Meinel.
