Deutsche Bahn is celebrating "Rail Day" with numerous events in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia from September 19 to 21. Station festivals, special trips and construction site tours will provide unusual insights into the world of railroads, as announced by Deutsche Bahn.
Guided tours and festival mile in Saxony
To mark its 150th anniversary, Pirna station is offering guided tours of the signal box and station on September 20. Chemnitz main station will be transformed into a festival mile to celebrate "200 years of railroads in Europe". Various special trips and a railroad flea market will be on offer, according to the railroad company.
For the first time in many years, round trips will be possible on the Schwarzenberg-Annaberg-Buchholz Süd line of the Erzgebirgsbahn. Steam locomotive rides will start at Leipzig Central Station and those interested can take a look at old locomotives.
