Dropping costs for electricity, heating oil and gas have offset price increases in other areas in Saxony, resulting in stable inflation. As in the previous month, the provisional inflation rate in September was 2.2 percent, according to the State Statistical Office in Kamenz.
The fall in the price of household energy amounted to 5.6 percent. Without the influence of these falling costs for electricity, heating oil and gas, annual inflation would have been 2.8 percent, according to the statistics office.
People in Saxony had to dig deeper into their pockets for childcare costs. They rose by 8.2 percent. In the leisure and culture sector, prices rose by 2.0 percent.
