Dresden Chamber of Industry and Commerce President Andreas Sperl considers the spin-off and privatization of the financially ailing Dresden Airport from Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG to be an option. Ultimately, the shareholders would have to decide whether they want to continue to provide subsidies or whether there are other options, said the head of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce. There was no way around a clear restructuring concept. There are enough examples of airports being privatized.
Sperl admitted that he did not know whether this would also work in the case of Dresden. "If it were up to me, I would at least look into it," said the former head of Elbe Flugzeugwerke Dresden.
