Once again, the future of the VW plant in Zwickau is clouded. What will become of the employees at the car factory itself and at the suppliers?

Leading local politicians in Zwickau have called on Volkswagen to make a clear commitment to its facility there. “The people in our region need clarity about the future,” write Mayor Constance Arndt (Citizens for Zwickau) and CDU District Administrator Carsten Michaelis in a joint statement. The city and district stand united in support of the employees and all companies directly or indirectly connected to the automotive hub.

The Zwickau plant has proven in recent years that it can shape change. “The workforce has supported the transition to electric mobility with a high degree of professionalism and great commitment.” The site boasts modern production facilities, highly qualified employees, and a strong network of suppliers. “These strengths must continue to play a key role in the Group’s strategic considerations in the future.”
