Following the rampage through Leipzig on Monday, the city council has lowered the flags on the forecourt of the New Town Hall to half-mast. This was done early in the morning, city spokesman Matthias Hasberg told the German Press Agency. Due to ongoing investigations, the affected area of the city center is expected to remain cordoned off throughout the day.
Late on Monday, two people were killed in a rampage through Leipzig city center. Three others were seriously injured. The exact number of people injured is unclear, according to the public prosecutor's office. A 33-year-old German from Leipzig is suspected of the crime. He was arrested immediately after the crime.
