Saxony-Anhalt's Minister President Sven Schulze has expressed his dismay at the shooting rampage in Leipzig and expressed his sympathy for the victims. "I was deeply shocked by the events in Leipzig. My sympathies go out to the victims, their families and all those injured. I wish them strength and a speedy recovery," wrote the CDU politician on the state government's official channel on Platform X.
Call for cohesion
At the same time, Schulze called for cohesion in society and warned against giving space to hatred and division. A clear sign of humanity and cohesion is needed. He thanked the emergency services for their tireless efforts.
Two people lost their lives and several others were injured in the rampage in Leipzig city centre on Monday afternoon.
