The regional trains between Leipzig and Cottbus are reaching their capacity limits, especially at weekends. The plan is now to make adjustments and offer additional seats.

In future, more passengers can hope for a seat on the regional train route between Cottbus and Leipzig. The highly popular journeys on the RE10 line will now run with two instead of one railcar on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, as announced by the Berlin-Brandenburg Transport Association. This could double the seating capacity from 180 to 360 seats.

"Especially on the busy days from Friday to Sunday, there is very high capacity utilization between Cottbus and Leipzig," explained the transport association. The state of Brandenburg has therefore financed a targeted expansion of seating capacity.
