Will we be able to fly in a climate-friendly way in the future? Brandenburg, Saxony, and the European research program Clean Aviation are launching a partnership to coincide with the start of the ILA aviation trade fair. The goal is to advance the development of low-emission aircraft technologies, according to a statement from the Brandenburg Ministry of Economic Affairs. Universities and projects in Lusatia and Dresden are playing a key role.
The states of Brandenburg and Saxony, along with the European Union’s aviation research and innovation program, Clean Aviation Joint Undertaking, signed a joint declaration of intent for strategic cooperation. In the future, they plan to work together on new technologies for more efficient and cleaner aviation, pooling regional and European expertise, according to a joint statement released this afternoon.
Several centers in Lusatia are already conducting research with the Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU) Cottbus-Senftenberg and TU Dresden on topics including hybrid-electric aircraft propulsion systems and hydrogen technologies. The collaboration opens up new opportunities for joint research and development projects while also strengthening Lusatia’s visibility as an internationally recognized hub for sustainable aviation technologies, said University President Gesine Grande.
