Over the past two weeks, 300 potholes have been removed from the highway. Traffic should now be able to flow smoothly again for the time being.

Drivers on the Autobahn 9 near Halle have a clear road ahead again after two full closures recently. "We finished faster than planned. We were able to start dismantling the roadworks yesterday evening and the road has been open again since 1.00 a.m. this morning," said a spokeswoman for Autobahn GmbH on request. The highway had been fully closed between the Halle junction and the Schkeuditzer Kreuz junction since Sunday.

Shortly before, there had already been a full closure in the area for several days. The Wiedemar junction was also closed. Traffic was diverted from Halle via the Bundesstraße 100 to the Schkeuditzer Kreuz junction.

300 potholes removed

According to Autobahn GmbH, the reason for the two closures, which were planned close together, was repair work. "The planned work has now been completed. A total of 300 potholes were repaired," said the spokesperson. According to her, there were no long traffic jams or other incidents while the road was closed.

In the coming weeks and months, there will reportedly be smaller daily construction sites on the section of freeway in southern Saxony-Anhalt near the border with Saxony. "There is still damage that can be repaired more easily. That will be taken care of." When the daily construction sites will be set up is currently still being planned.
