The driver of a powerful car has challenged two police officers to an illegal street race on the highway. According to police reports, the 38-year-old was driving his vehicle in the Königshainer Berge highway tunnel in the direction of Görlitz in Saxony when two civilian officers slowly drove past him in their vehicle. The car driver apparently interpreted the eye contact on Saturday as an invitation to an illegal race and gave a hand signal.
He accelerated sharply and overtook the police officers on the right, according to reports. When they did not follow him, he dropped back and repeated his request. After the tunnel, the man stepped on the gas pedal again, the officers followed him and made themselves known. The 38-year-old allowed himself to be stopped for the subsequent traffic check. He is now accused of attempting an illegal street race.
