The rider of a small motorcycle was seriously injured in a collision with a car in northern Leipzig. The 37-year-old woman was taken to a hospital after the accident, according to police. The 43-year-old driver of the car sustained minor injuries.
The man had been driving on a connecting road between Göbschelwitz and Hohenheida on Friday afternoon. According to current information, his car veered into the oncoming lane, where it collided with the motorcyclist.
Police are investigating whether inattention may have been the cause of the accident. The driver is under investigation on preliminary suspicion of endangering road traffic. Property damage is estimated at around 20,000 euros.
