Train service has been disrupted in eastern Saxony between Bischofswerda and Görlitz due to vandalism. Unknown individuals cut cables at several locations along the route near the Bautzen signal box; these cables are essential for reliable train service, according to a Deutsche Bahn spokeswoman. Länderbahn, the operator of the trains on this route, has set up emergency bus service. Trains are only running sporadically between Bischofswerda and Görlitz. The RE1 and RB60 lines are affected. Repair work is underway, according to Deutsche Bahn. “Our experts are working tirelessly to repair the damage caused by the cable theft as quickly as possible,” the spokeswoman explained.
