Expensive food, expensive fuel: Saxony's consumers are paying more again. Which products are now really costing money - and where surprising savings could be made.

The inflation rate in Saxony has risen slightly again. According to provisional figures, the annual inflation rate in January was 2.3 percent, 0.4 points higher than in December, as reported by the State Statistical Office in Kamenz. This was mainly due to higher prices for food, non-alcoholic beverages and transport.

Fuel prices also rose significantly in January (up 5.3 percent). However, clothing and shoes (down 4.0 percent) and household energy (down 2.5 percent) were cheaper.
