One day after the rampage in Leipzig's city center, Grimmaische Straße has been reopened to passers-by. This was reported by dpa reporters on site. The pedestrian zone where the crime took place can now be entered again.
However, most of the stores along the street remained closed for the time being. Branches of large chains such as cafés, drugstores and clothing stores did not open on Tuesday and the stores were dark.
Grimmaische Straße is one of the city's central shopping streets and connects Augustusplatz with the market square. This is where a 33-year-old man hit several people with his car on Monday afternoon. Two people were killed and several others were injured. The investigation into the crime is ongoing.
