Earlier this year, it was reported that a Polish investor intended to take over Heiterblick, the struggling tram manufacturer. The rescue deal is now a done deal.

The Polish company Pesa has completed its acquisition of Heiterblick, the Leipzig-based tram manufacturer that had slipped into insolvency. Operations will continue and are expected to be expanded in the future, Heiterblick GmbH announced. Pesa aims to further strengthen its position in the German and European markets for light rail and streetcars. Heiterblick most recently employed around 250 people.

The long-established Leipzig-based company had fallen into crisis in the spring of 2025 and had undergone a self-administered restructuring process. The reasons for this included rising costs and supply chain issues. Pesa is a rail vehicle manufacturer based in Bydgoszcz.
