The Volkswagen Group is extending production of the ID.3 model at its Saxon site near Zwickau. This is due to changes in the Group-wide planning for the production of new electric models such as the ID-Roc and the ID-Golf due to "unresolved production issues", as reported by the "Handelsblatt" newspaper. According to a report in "Freie Presse", the second Zwickau production line for the Cupra Born is also to be retained.
VW Saxony did not confirm the change in the Group's plans. "We are aware of the statements in the press. However, the decision on the plant allocation and the associated model shifts will be made in the VW planning round in November," said company spokesman Christian Sommer.
