Warning strike ahead of next round of negotiations with Telekom

The trade union Verdi has called on its employees in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia to go on warning strike in the collective bargaining negotiations at Deutsche Telekom. "The aim is to get around 1,500 strikers on the streets today," said union secretary René List. In total, Deutsche Telekom has between 7,500 and 8,000 employees in the three federal states, according to List.

The first strikes had already taken place in other federal states on Tuesday. Verdi justified the warning strike with a disappointing second round of collective bargaining without an offer from the employers.

Demand: 6.6 percent more

Verdi is demanding for around 60.000 employees nationwide, including a pay increase of 6.6 percent for a collective agreement term of twelve months and a Verdi membership bonus of 660 euros per year.

According to the union, the Telekom Group in Germany consists of 20 different Group companies bound by collective agreements, each of which has its own collective agreement. The majority of the collective wage agreements run until March 31, 2026 and joint negotiations had been agreed for these companies prior to the collective bargaining round.

The third round of collective bargaining is scheduled for May 11/12, 2026.
