Dementia doesn't just affect older people—younger people are also being diagnosed with it. Saxony hopes to raise awareness through a week-long campaign.

Approximately 104,000 people in Saxony have been diagnosed with dementia. According to the AOK Health Atlas, Saxony ranks first nationwide with a dementia rate of 3.75 percent among people over 40.

However, dementia is not solely a matter of age; people can receive this diagnosis even at a younger age, as the Saxony Ministry of Health noted. For this reason, Dementia Awareness Week, taking place from September 19 to 27 in Saxony, will feature a wide range of approximately 400 events.
