RB Leipzig did not manage more than a draw in the test match against Dukla Prague. Coach Ole Werner's team, who were without twelve international players, drew 2:2 (2:0) in the non-public match.
"The result wasn't the main focus today," said Werner. It was about staying in rhythm and giving playing time to the players who hadn't been used so much in preparation and recently.
Werner makes starting XI debut
Tottenham returnee Timo Werner made his starting XI debut against the Czech Premier League's bottom club, who have won just one of their eleven league games so far. The former international striker narrowly missed out on a goal in the first half. Instead, Andrija Maksimovic (8th minute) gave RB the lead, which Johan Bakayoko (16th) extended.
In the second half, coach David Holoubek's Dukla team got stronger and stronger after RB coach Werner had mainly substituted U19 players. Prague reduced the deficit through substitute Jacques Fokam (65') before joker Marcel Cermak (81') equalized.
