National soccer team player Assan Ouédraogo will be out for RB Leipzig for “a few weeks” and is in danger of missing the start of competitive play in late August. According to the Bundesliga club, the midfielder sustained a capsular injury to his right shoulder during a tackle in training.
The injury will be treated conservatively, the club said. On August 22, coach Martín Demichelis’s team will face Eintracht Trier in the DFB Cup. A week later, RB will kick off the new Bundesliga season with a home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
This is not the first health setback in the 20-year-old’s still-young career. Last season, the DFB national team player was already sidelined for several months due to a knee injury. Even during his time with FC Schalke 04, Ouédraogo was repeatedly sidelined by injuries.
Ouédraogo was added to the roster for the World Cup in North America by then-national team coach Julian Nagelsmann after Lennart Karl was ruled out.
