The cup hurdle of Karlsruher SC was too high for ZFC Meuselwitz. Despite a 0:5 (0:3) defeat, the Thuringian cup winners did not hide against the second division club and delivered a respectable performance for at least 20 minutes in the first half. The fact that the visitors were 2-0 up at this point thanks to goals from Fabian Schleusener (1st) and Nicolai Rapp (11th) did not detract from this. Schleusener (42), Lilian Egloff (52) and Christoph Kobald (56) scored the other goals for the favorites in front of 4,369 spectators.
Without even touching the ball, the hosts were already behind after just 18 seconds. A cross reached Schleuseneer, who - surrounded by three ZFC players - was able to successfully head in relatively unchallenged. The quick 0:2 was the result of a brilliant 30-meter shot that hit the ZFC goal unstoppably.
However, Meuselwitz rallied in the following minutes. From the 25th minute onwards, there was no discernible difference between the two classes. Instead, it was the Zipsendorfers who dominated the game and created three great chances through René Eckardt (27th/post), Andy Trübenbach (30th) and Florian Hansch (36th). It paid off that the opportunities were not taken, as Schleusener put the lid on the game in the first half.
