Midfielder Eljif Elmas is once again leaving RB Leipzig on loan to play in Italy. The 26-year-old will join Serie A club Atalanta Bergamo for the upcoming season, the Bundesliga club announced just a few hours before its DFB Cup match against Eintracht Trier. According to a report by Sky, the move is a loan with an option to buy.
Elmas transferred from SSC Napoli to Leipzig in the winter of 2023–24, but has since made only 22 competitive appearances for the club. The North Macedonian national team player has already spent the past year and a half on loan in Italy—first with FC Turin, and most recently with his former club, Napoli.
