With the biggest victory in their Bundesliga history, the Thüringer HC women’s handball team has stormed to the top of the standings. Coach Herbert Müller’s team soundly defeated newly promoted HC Leipzig in front of a home crowd today, 44–21 (26–6). Levke Kretschmann was the THC’s top scorer with eight goals; the team now has a 15–1 record. For the hopelessly outmatched Leipzig team (1–15), Marlene Tucholke scored five times. The Thuringian team established clear dominance right from the start. With a fast pace and strong drive toward the goal, they dismantled the defense of the last-place team and led 11–1 after 13 minutes. HCL coach Erik Töpfer called his second timeout of the game but was unable to stabilize his team. The Leipzig players continued to commit hair-raising turnovers and were unable to gain any traction on defense. After the break, the hosts took a more measured approach. The HCL at least showed spirit and forced a much more open second half. Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de). All rights reserved
