After a string of strong performances, the Eisenach Bundesliga handball team suffered a setback. In Göppingen, defensive lapses and a failure to capitalize on scoring opportunities proved to be their undoing.

The ThSV Eisenach handball team suffered its third road loss of this Bundesliga season. Coach Sebastian Hinze’s team fell to Frisch Auf Göppingen 26–34 (13–17). In front of 4,400 spectators, Felix Aellen was the top scorer for the Thuringians with eleven goals and a 100 percent shooting percentage; the team now stands at 6:14 points.

Eisenach initially put up a strong fight in an intense and fast-paced match, but they began to falter slightly in the closing minutes of the first half. They incurred too many time penalties and repeatedly failed to score against Göppingen’s goalkeeper Kristian Saeveras, who was in top form.

When technical errors began to pile up after the break as well, Eisenach’s deficit grew to 15–22 (37th minute). Although the visitors countered with four consecutive goals, Göppingen quickly regained control of the match and consistently exploited the gaps in Eisenach’s defensive center.
