The air is getting thinner and thinner for Leipzig's Bundesliga handball team in the relegation battle. Against VfL Gummersbach, any hope of a surprise evaporated in the first half.

The handball players of SC DHfK Leipzig have remained winless in the Bundesliga for the eighth time in a row and are still in acute danger of relegation. The team coached by Frank Carstens was beaten 31:37 (12:21) at home by VfL Gummersbach and remains bottom of the table.

Blaer Hinriksson and Tomas Piroch were Saxony's best scorers in front of 4,492 spectators with five goals each. Playmaker Ludvig Hallbäck stood out for the fourth-placed Gummersbachers, who recorded their eleventh win in a row, with eight goals.
