With their first win in three months, Dynamo Dresden have left the direct relegation places for the time being and stopped VfL Bochum's high-flying run. The Saxons won 2:1 (2:0) at the Ruhrstadion in Bochum and celebrated their second win of the season, their first victory in eight league games and a jump to 16th place. The hosts, on the other hand, suffered their first defeat under new coach Uwe Rösler after gaining ten points from five games.
Dresden coach Thomas Stamm had reshuffled his team after the two-week international break and called up five new professionals to the starting eleven. Dresden were also very compact with a defensive five-man line and made life difficult for the hosts. Alexander Rossipal then took advantage of a lapse of concentration in the VfL defense and scored in the 25th minute to make it 1:0 for the visitors. Former Düsseldorf player Vincent Vermeij (45.+1) then tucked the ball into the net before the break after a counter-attack to make it 2-0 for the well-performing visitors.
