Aue enters regional league with coach Schubitidse

Relegated third division side Erzgebirge Aue are planning a fresh start in the Regionalliga Nordost with coach Chwitscha Schubitidse. The club made the announcement after a "decision-making process lasting several weeks". "There were several exciting candidates. After weighing up all the influencing factors, we came to the conclusion that Chwitscha Schubitidse has earned this opportunity and our trust through his team leadership, his appearance and his sporting signature in a thankless phase of the season," said Aue president Thomas Schlesinger in a statement.

Aue relegated after 23 years of professional football

The Saxons were relegated to the Regionalliga at the end of April after 23 years in professional soccer. In 2026, Aue were the only team of all 54 German professional clubs to remain winless until their 5-3 (1-3) win at FC Ingolstadt at the beginning of May.
