The announced warning strikes in local transport coincide with the exam period. The Saxon Minister of Education is concerned about the pupils and is calling for a review of the strike plans.

After announcing a warning strike in local transport lasting several days, the Saxon Minister of Culture has called on the union to question the strike plans in view of the upcoming Abitur exams. "The pupils must not become a pawn here," said Christian Piwarz (CDU) according to a press release issued by the ministry on Tuesday. Verdi had called for another warning strike from Wednesday to Sunday at 6.00 am. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, however, several Abitur examinations are scheduled at schools in Saxony. Among others, examinations in English, music and sport are scheduled for this week.

According to the press release, the Ministry of Education will inform schools as a precautionary measure that they can postpone the start of examinations if pupils are late. "The pupils are not responsible for the reasons for their late arrival," it continues. They must be allowed to take part in the examinations. In addition, it will be ensured that students have the full working time available to them.
