For the first time, visitors to Dresden Zoo can marvel at a baby spectacled langur. The special thing about little Ida is her orange fur. This is the color that the young of this monkey species are born with, as curator Matthias Hendel explained. As with other Asian langurs, it only turns grey, the normal color of the species, after four to six months.
"This is very important," said Hendel. This makes the offspring stand out in the group so that everyone can concentrate on the young animal, look after it and protect it if there is any danger.
