Last year, the CSD in Bautzen was met with hatred and aggression. How is the situation in eastern Saxony this time?

Accompanied by a large police presence, the queer community gathered for CSD in Bautzen. A counter-demo also formed on Sunday to protest "against gender madness". The police separated the two camps. It remained calm at first. A police spokesperson was unable to provide numbers of participants in the early afternoon.

2,000 to 3,000 participants were expected to attend the CSD demonstration for the rights of gays, lesbians and trans people. Between 300 and 700 people were announced for the counter-protest.

The district of Bautzen had limited the right of assembly in advance by general decree. Among other things, uniform black clothing that could give the impression of a willingness to use violence or have an intimidating effect was banned.

Last year, there were right-wing extremist protests in Bautzen on the occasion of Christopher Street Day, which were characterized by aggression against the CSD participants. This year too, the police and assembly authorities had prepared for a confrontational situation.
