Television and film projects often cost a lot of money. Young talents, in particular, need support—including financial support. Some of them are lucky enough to receive it.

The Central German Media Fund (MDM) plans to provide a total of 777,000 euros in funding for 13 additional film and media projects. The board made this decision at its fourth and final meeting of the year, according to an announcement.

According to the announcement, the largest grant—250,000 euros in production funding—will go to the theatrical documentary for children “Girls on Fire” by Dinah Münchow and Staphan Liskowsky. The film is being produced as part of the “Der Besondere Kinderfilm” initiative and follows three girls on their journey as soccer players in the youth team of a professional club.

The second-highest grant in the year’s final round goes to the TP2-Talent Pool project in Weimar, which will receive 175,000 euros. It supports emerging talent in the fields of screenwriting, directing, and production for feature films, documentaries, and animated films from Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia. Other projects receive between 10,000 and 70,000 euros.

The MDM is a regional film funding institution for the states of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia. It is headquartered in Leipzig and was founded in 1998 by the three states
