Even during the international break, things are far from calm at Dynamo Dresden. In addition to the team’s on-field situation, an internal club conflict continues to make headlines. Former supervisory board member Thomas Blümel is at the center of the controversy.
The dispute is far from over
The conflict between Blümel and the club is not yet over. Dynamo Dresden has filed an appeal against the most recent decision by the Dresden Regional Court. As a result, the case will be reheard in court. The next hearing is scheduled for October 5.
Allegations against Blümel take center stage
The conflict was triggered by internal proceedings conducted by the club’s Honorary Council. Blümel, a long-time member of Dynamo, was removed from the supervisory board and was also temporarily expelled from the club.
The allegation was that Blümel had passed on confidential information from the club to outsiders. Blümel rejected the allegations against him.
The Dresden Regional Court initially ruled in Blümel’s favor. In a preliminary ruling, the implementation of the Honorary Council’s decision was halted. As a result, the expulsion from the club could not be enforced for the time being. At the same time, questions remain regarding the conduct of the club’s internal proceedings.
Blümel subsequently appealed to the club’s governing bodies to accept the court’s decision and refocus their attention on the club’s core mission.
Dynamo Does Not Accept the Decision
This hope for a calming of the situation has not yet been realized. Dynamo Dresden has filed an appeal against the ruling. Now the Regional Court must revisit the case.
For the club, the focus is not solely on the legal issue. The dispute could also have financial consequences. Should Dynamo lose in further proceedings, court and legal fees could run into the five-figure range.
On-Field Situation Exacerbates the Problem
This latest legal dispute comes at a difficult time for Dynamo. While the team is preparing for its upcoming matches, the club remains preoccupied with a conflict at the executive and club levels.
Head coach Thomas Stamm had already made it clear that the team should be affected as little as possible by events off the field. For the team’s performance, it is crucial that the players, coaching staff, and support staff can work with full concentration.
However, with the upcoming court date, the dispute remains in the spotlight. By October 5 at the latest, it should become clear how the Blümel case will proceed and whether the conflict, which has been smoldering for months, is moving closer to a resolution.
